A spur-of-the-moment weekend afternoon plan took us to the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. It's a free city park, not huge but densely planted, with white, pink, red, and yellow roses arranged in separate beds — still blooming heavily even in the middle of summer.

We got there just after 1pm, with the sun at full strength and a sky so deep blue it made the flower colors pop even more. A little over an hour of walking the beds turned into a photo session we couldn't stop.
