Fallen Leaf 2023 | Two Days Camping By A Tahoe Forest Lake

Overview

This was a short Tahoe weekend with Fallen Leaf Lake as the main base. It had the classic family camping rhythm: lake and water during the day, campground at night, then an easy return the next day.

Day 1 | Into The Mountains, Then Camp

We started with a slow loop through the mountains. The snow peaks and meadow views were clean and open, and the weather changed quickly in a very Tahoe way.

At Fallen Leaf Lake, the view opened up completely. The water color and clouds made the lake feel calm but still dramatic.

The kids got ice cream first, which was basically the official start of vacation mode.

We also stopped around the lodging and nearby buildings. The mountain cabin mood was strong.

By evening we were back at camp, with tents set up and a slow night ahead.

Day 2 | Water, Sand, And An Easy Drive Home

The second day was all about family lake time: paddle board, water play, climbing on rocks, and kids with more energy than the adults.

The beach took a lot of time too, including the classic bury-someone-in-sand project.

We added a few more shoreline photos. Sunny Tahoe is very easy to photograph.

On the way home, the kids even joined the car wash and supply stop, which made the ending feel participatory too.
